Prairie Organics: Think Whole Farm Conference & Tradeshow

Start date: February 23, 2018 - End date: February 24, 2018
Time: 12:00 am - 12:00 am
Location: Keystone Centre in Brandon, Manitoba

Following the first highly successful Prairie Organics conference and tradeshow held at the University of Manitoba in February 2016, Manitoba Agriculture, in partnership with The Manitoba Organic Alliance, is hosting an expanded tradeshow and conference at the Keystone Centre in Brandon February 23-24th, 2018.

The free tradeshow features its own stage and 26,000 square feet of exhibitor space. The trade show showcases environmentally-friendly farming technology, renewable energy, organic farming equipment, grain marketers, approved inputs and seeds, certification bodies and more.

Two conference streams pair leading edge scientists with experienced organic farmers. Existing organic producers will benefit from in-depth sessions on agronomic and environmental topics related to soil fertility, managing weeds, promoting biodiversity and mitigating green house gas emissions. Both advanced and beginning organic producers will be inspired by stories from some of Canada’s most successful organic producers. The conference sessions are also provide continuing education for professional Agronomists. CEU credits are available for most of the presentations.

At its core, the event is about connections – catching up with old friends and making new ones. Business-to-business meetings will connect producers and buyers to secure markets and ingredients. A reception and evening event provide informal opportunities to network.

Two free pre-conference tours provide additional opportunities to learn and connect. Tour an organic flax processor to find out what happens to organic grains once they leave the farm or a research and education greenhouse at the North Hill Campus of Assiniboine College.
