Organic grain production will be impacted under the 2020 Canadian Organic Standards: transition of fields from conventional to organic production will be facilitated as it will be possible grow side by side transitional and organic fields of the same variety (parallel production) in the two last years of transition.

A new substance is are also added to fertilize organic land where phosphorous level is sometimes critical: struvite, a substance that Martin Entz is testing in the Prairies.

Pandemic and drought also influenced the decision-making in the review process: helping farmers cope with market disruption and climate change were concerns and various solutions have been proposed.

The revised Canadian Organic Standard will be published in November 2020; Nicole Boudreau presents the key modifications that certified organic operators will have to comply with for the upcoming five years.
